The Cube represents an 8 ohm load and is very efficient. Virtually any power amplifier or receiver — regardless of wattage rating — may be used to power your Cubes. We generally recommend that you purchase the highest wattage amplifier or receiver your budget allows, to facilitate added headroom (power reserves). This helps deal with low frequency transients (bursts of sound that require the amplifier to output more instantaneous power, to accurately reproduce these sounds).
Yes. The Cubes were specifically designed for on-axis dispersion to increase imaging and mitigate phase shift. The optimal placement for the “Cubes” is to toe them in so you are directly facing the front baffle, with the center of the speaker at ear level. Also, the enclosures are vented with a rear firing port. This arrangement allows you to “adjust” the amount of bass energy in your room by placing the “Cubes” different distances from walls, floor and ceiling. Basically, the closer to a reflective surface yields more bass, the further from one, less bass. The choice is yours.
Absolutely! Because of their dynamic range and “amplifier friendly” impedance, they make excellent home theater speakers. Most A/V receivers today incorporate a PRE-OUT/ MAIN-IN set of connectors around back of the units. The receivers’ PRE-OUT and MAIN-IN connectors interface with the EQC-1’s LINE-IN and LINE-OUT connectors respectively. For those of you who are using separate components, the EQC-1 will be the last piece of equipment wired in just before your power amplifier. Simply put, program source outputs (surround processor, pre-amp, mixing board, etc…) to EQC-1 LINE-IN. Then EQC-1 LINE-OUT goes to power amplifier inputs.
No question! One cannot measure qualitative differences, quantitatively. Materials used in construction, some not even seen with the naked eye, can affect the sound quality as well as the cost of a loudspeaker. A high end loudspeaker design strives for accuracy and listening enjoyment as long term goals, no matter how big or small the speaker size.
The Cubes come with a 5 year limited warranty that covers parts and labor for manufacturing defects or component failure which occurs under normal use.
Call us and we’ll issue an RA (return authorization) number. Ship the unit back to us UPS ground with insurance in the original factory boxes and packing material (these provide the best protection against damage). We’ll repair the unit and ship it back to you UPS ground with insurance at our cost.
We’re saving you at least $700 off the suggested retail price that you’d otherwise pay in dealer markup! We’re also the best possible source for technical information and support, and no one understands the product or its intended purpose better than the manufacturer.
